Holiday Trends

By Charlotte Ross

As the holiday season approaches, some trends in fashion stand out as both chic and cozy. This year, holiday fashion is all about embracing texture and warmth, with styles equally as versatile as they are stylish. From textures to rich colors and warm accessories, let’s dive into the most popular holiday fashion trends that will have you looking amazing while staying warm.

Large Scarves

Here in Jersey, the temperatures dropped quickly this season. It’s time to bundle up with a large scarf. Printed scarves are everywhere this winter, whether plaid, plain, fringed, cashmere, or wool, the bigger, the better. It seems global warming has skipped New Jersey for now so in the meantime follow one of this year’s biggest winter trends and wrap up in a scarf.

Brown

Recently, the 2025 Pantone color of the year was announced as Mocha Mousse.  Despite the backlash of the brown color, brown is without a doubt all over the stores this season.  Ranges of brown from light mocha to deep chocolate have been featured in sweaters, boots, and coats.  We’re curious to see how this Pantone color affects the trends coming into the springtime.

Textured Fabrics

In 2024, it's not just about the colors—textures are grabbing attention in the fashion world. After the leather craze of 2023, we're seeing a shift towards softer, more luxurious materials like suede and velvet. Leather jackets and pants, once a staple, have been replaced by holiday-specific velvet pieces, making their debut a couple of months earlier this year. With the increasing influence of Western-inspired fashion, suede has found its way into everything from jackets to boots, bringing a warmer charm to our cozy winter essentials.

Dark Red

While traditional leather may have taken a step back this season, dark red leather is having a moment. This rich, holiday hue is everywhere, adding a new twist to classic leather pieces, from jackets and pants to shoes. Dark red has also made its mark on beauty, becoming the nail color of the year. The shade adds a touch of sophistication and warmth, making it a perfect addition to winter wardrobes. Whether in your accessories or on your nails, dark red has been the shade to embrace this season.

English Country Plaid

It’s not just the Western countryside taking influence on fashion trends this year, but the English countryside as well.  This year spot plaid in rich colors like browns, blues, and greens on jackets, skirts, and scarves.  English plaid is the perfect way to add elegance to your warm styles this season. Whether you're layering a plaid scarf or dressing up a plaid skirt, this timeless pattern is a great way to elevate your look while channeling the charm of the English.

Animal Prints

As a firm believer that leopard print never went out of style, but it is more relevant than ever this season. The mob-wife trend, which started gaining popularity in late winter of last year, has made the way for fur jackets to take over this winter, many featuring bold animal prints. Leopard print, in particular, made waves after the Wales Bonner X Adidas Sambas collaboration, and now it’s everywhere— shoes, bags, and denim.  Now the question lies of when is too much animal print too much? And will animal print ever stop being in trend?
