The Designers Behind the Eras Tour

All the designers behind the iconic looks of the Eras tour

During the Fearless set, Swift paid tribute to the iconic sliver fringe dress she debuted on the Fearless” tour back in 2009. Designer Robert Cavalli created the custom fringe dresses for Swift, one short gold fringe dress, and a gold-to-sliver ombre dress, with a longer fringe. Of course, this outfit would not be complete without Swift’s rhinestone guitar.

Despite only performing one song from Speak Now for the majority of the tour, this era has six ballgowns that Swift switches out each night. Nicole + Felicia, Elie Saab, and Zuhair Murad have all designed at least one of these stunning ballgowns. These ballgowns pay homage to Swift's Valentino dress that she wore on the Speak Now tour. On the first night of the tour, Swift wore a Nicole + Felicia gold gown dawned with hundreds of gold sequins.

If you feel like you’ve seen this outfit before, you probably have. Swift recreated the iconic “22” music video look for the beginning of her Red era set. The shirt is a custom design by Ashish and has three variations, each one with different lyrics from the Red album. After removing the shirt, a red-to-black ombre romper is revealed for the final half of the Red Era. But we are not done yet, for “All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version")” Swift dawns a glittery red coat also designed by Ashish over the romper.

1989

Swift was the queen of matching two-piece sets during the 1989 era, so it was no wonder Swift wore one for the Eras tour. Cavalli made four variations of the same two-piece to match whatever dress Swift wears for her acoustic set. This high-waisted, mirrorball of an outfit is a perfect homage to when 1989 ruled radio stations.

It would not be a Taylor Swift concert without a show-stopping catsuit, so Swift pulled all the stops for her custom asymmetrical Cavalli catsuit. The suit is black and features red snakes climbing from the bottom of her leg to the top of her neck, and of course, there is an endless amount of sparkle on the suit. The Reputation era is the only era of this tour to not have more than one costume, but who knows what Swift will surprise us with for her South America shows.

Swift matched the dreamy aesthetics of the Lover album with three custom Versace bodysuits covered in jewels. On night one of the tour, Swift wore a pink and blue bodysuit and later debuted a blue and gold and a purple and gold bodysuit with tassels later on into the tour. She pairs off the bodysuit with short, chunky necklaces, all designed by Versace. For her song “The Man”, Swift wears a studded blazer which is also designed by Versace.

folklore

Designer Alberta Ferretti took control when it came to the Folklore era’s whimsical dresses. Ferretti designed five custom dresses for the Folklore set, all with lace, flowers, and a long flowing skirt and sleeves. These dresses were made for twirling and exaggerated movements.

evermore

Swift had the brand Etro design the dresses for her Evermore after they designed the gorgeous dress she wore for her 2021 Grammys performance. Etro designed two dresses, a yellow dress with a fitted corset top and floral stitching with a touch of sparkles and a wine-red dress head to toe with sparkles. Both dresses are sleeveless and paired with a cape that Etro also designed.

Swift had one of my favorite designers, Oscar de la Renta designed the Midnights looks. For the beginning of the set, Swift wore a sparkling t-shirt dress and a purple faux fur jacket, referencing the jacket she wore in the “Lavender Haze” music video. Swift pulled out all the stops for her song “Midnight Rain” when she revealed a dark midnight blue bodysuit underneath, which was completely bejeweled. Zuhair Murad designed the two other gorgeous variations of the blue bodysuit.

Acoustic set + shoes

Designer Jessica Jones has worked with Swift since the 1989 world tour, so it is no surprise she brought her back to design the dresses she wears for the acoustic surprise song section. Jones designed a long dress with ruffles and cap sleeves in four different colors, all matching the colors Cavalli chose for the 1989 section.

Throughout the entire show, Swift exclusively wears shoes designed by Christian Louboutin. They are custom-made and made to measure for Swift. She kicked off the show wearing knee-high Louboutins with a gorgeous red bottom.
