MET GALA ‘24 REVIEW

Sleeping Beauties reawaken for this whimsical, floral Met Gala hosted by Zendaya, JLO, Bad Bunny, and Chris Hemsworth. This year's ‘Garden of Time’ theme celebrates the latest exhibition at the museum, Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion, showcasing archival pieces that haven’t been seen for years.

Who can start a Met Gala review without mentioning the boss lady herself? Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of Vogue, wore a custom Loewe black floral jacket over a white dress designed by Jonathan Anderson. Even without her signature glasses, Wintour’s look was simple but beautiful.

Emma Chamberlain wore a custom Jean Paul Gaultier dress that took 640 hours to make, and as they say, hard work pays off. Of her four years at the Met Gala, this is Chamberlain’s best look yet.

Bad Bunny

Bad Bunny wore a custom Maison Margiela by John Galliano. However, the whole outfit is forgettable or boring. I don’t see this look being one that comes to mind when I think about Bad Bunny.

JLO

JLo wore custom Schiaparelli Haute Couture, and with Daniel Roseberry designing, of course the dress is stunning. The sheer-naked look reminds me of Cher's naked dress at the Met Gala in 1974. The only critique is the hair and makeup, the bun just doesn’t work, and the makeup is boring.

Chris Hemsworth

Hemsworth wore an off-white cream suit and his wife Elsa Pataky wore a gold turtleneck dress by Tom Ford. One word: boring. Doesn’t deserve anything more.

zendaya

This is the first look Zendaya showcased last night. Designed by John Galliano by Maison Margiela, Zendaya channeled a wicked stepsister energy in this dark floral gown.

Out of the two looks, this is my favorite. Zendaya wore a black 1996 Givenchy gown by Galliano. In both looks the makeup and hair work so well with the rest of her look. Easily one of my favorite celebrities of the night.

Designed by Sean McGirr for Alexander McQueen, the look pays tribute to the late McQueen by taking inspiration from his fall 2006 runway show. Del Rey made a triumphant return to the red carpet with this look.

Nicki Minaj

This dress screams Minaj, it was made for her. In actuality, it was created by Marni, the gold dress is adorned with 3-D flowers, and the bright colors bring all attention to Minaj.

Elle Fanning

In this transparent gown by Balmain, Fanning looks like Elsa from Frozen. Balmain had some of the best looks of the night and this dress is up there.

Another win for Balmain. Tyla wore a sand-themed look that was unique and eye-catching. The hourglass and sand on the shoulder details tie the look together.

Kim k

Kim stunned in this Maison Margiela silver floral gown. However, it was oddly paired with a grey cardigan. I wish she took it off lol.

Gigi Hadid

Another favorite from the night. The eldest Hadid sister wore a white gown by Thom Browne that is so chic. The short bob and red lip are so bold but work so well.
